Mariposa Voices is a small choir open to feminist voices.
It is a safe space meant for women, trans, intersex, non-binary, and agender people.
We sing songs of protest, feminist anthems, internationalist pieces, as well as both traditional and non-traditional songs.
Mariposa Voices is based in Berlin Friedrichshain.
We are a beginner-friendly choir, we accept only nice people and we welcome new members regardless of singing experience.
The choir is free but requires active participation. A choir is more than just the sum of its voices, stability and reliability within the choir is necessary for a good performance, regular participation is a requirement for taking part in concerts (thumb rule: at least half of the preparatory rehearsals for a concert).
Our rehearsal has this structure:
15.00 a smooth start with tea and cookies so we can exchange news. ideas and choir announcements
15.30 voice warm ups followed by a welcome song.
16.00 Finally we get singing!
17.00 A short break in between if needed.
17.10 We sing again!
18.00 End of rehearsal.
Punctuality is greatly appreciated. To minimize disruptions during rehearsals please refrain from commenting while singing, keep your question and comments to the song for before or after the songs, meanwhile for biggest queries, ideas and suggestions should remain for the start (if is something you wish to speak with everyone) or end of the rehearsal (if it is something you want to speak directly with me).
