Mariposa Voices is a small choir open to feminist voices.
It is a safe space meant for women, trans, intersex, non-binary, and agender people.
We sing songs of protest, feminist anthems, internationalist pieces, as well as both traditional and non-traditional songs.
Mariposa Voices is based in Berlin Friedrichshain.
We are a beginner-friendly choir, and we welcome everyone, regardless of singing experience.
The choir is free but requires active participation. A choir is more than just the sum of its voices, stability and reliability within the choir is necessary for a good performance, regular participation is a requirement for taking part in concerts (thumb rule: at least half of the preparatory rehearsals for a concert).
Our rehearsal is structured with a smooth start with tea and cookies so we can exchange the news and choir announcements, then voice warm ups followed by a welcome song. Finally we get singing! We make a short break in between when needed.
Punctuality is greatly appreciated. To minimize disruptions during rehearsals please refrain from commenting while singing, keep your ideas and suggestion for before or after the songs.
